Lead Golang Engineer - Remote

We are looking for an experienced Golang Tech Lead to join an international engineering team working on high-performance AdTech and digital advertising solutions.

In this role, you will provide technical leadership while remaining hands-on with backend development. You will be responsible for driving technical design, architecture, development standards, and the delivery of scalable and reliable backend systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the technical design, development, and evolution of backend systems using Golang.

• Define and drive technical architecture, engineering standards, and best practices for backend development.

• Design and develop scalable, distributed, and high-performance systems supporting high-volume and real-time workloads.

• Remain hands-on with coding, code reviews, debugging, performance optimization, and technical problem-solving.

• Take ownership of system design and architecture decisions, including technology selection and technical estimations.

• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other engineers.

• Collaborate with Product Managers, Engineers, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions.

• Identify technical risks, performance bottlenecks, and scalability challenges and drive appropriate solutions.

• Contribute to development processes, testing strategies, CI/CD, observability, and continuous engineering improvements.

• Work effectively with distributed international teams across different time zones.

Technical Skills

• 7+ years of professional experience in Backend Software Engineering, with strong experience in Golang.

• 3+ years of hands-on experience with Golang in production environments.

• Proven experience in a Tech Lead, Lead Engineer, or equivalent technical leadership role.

• Strong knowledge of software architecture, system design, and distributed systems.

• Strong experience building microservices and RESTful APIs.

• Solid knowledge of SQL/NoSQL databases, caching, and data persistence.

• Experience with message brokers and event-driven architectures, such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar technologies.

• Strong understanding of concurrency, scalability, performance optimization, and fault tolerance.

• Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes.

• Good understanding of CI/CD, cloud infrastructure, monitoring, logging, and observability.

• Strong knowledge of clean code, software engineering principles, automated testing, and code review practices.

Technical Leadership

• Proven ability to lead technical initiatives and make architecture-level decisions.

• Experience mentoring engineers and providing technical direction.

• Strong ownership and ability to drive technical initiatives from requirements through production.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Good English communication skills and experience working with international teams.

Domain Experience – AdTech

Professional experience in AdTech / Digital Advertising is highly preferred.

Experience in one or more of the following areas is a strong advantage:

• Programmatic Advertising

• Real-Time Bidding (RTB)

• Ad Exchange

• Supply-Side Platform (SSP)

• Demand-Side Platform (DSP)

• Header Bidding

• Ad Serving / Campaign Management

• Advertising analytics, tracking, or measurement

• Real-time data processing and event-driven systems

• High-throughput and low-latency backend systems

Candidates with experience building systems that process large volumes of requests or events under strict latency requirements are highly relevant for this role.

Nice to Have

• Experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure.

• Experience with Kafka or other distributed streaming platforms.

• Experience with observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/OpenSearch, or similar.

• Experience working in a product, SaaS, or AdTech environment.

• Experience working with distributed engineering teams across Europe or other international markets.
