Interactive AI Companion Robot Prototype (Reachy Platform - Hugging Face Robot)
Objective
- Develop a working prototype of an AI-powered companion robot using Reachy (from Hugging face), focused on natural interaction via speech and vision for patient care use cases.
- Scope (MVP Prototype)
Core Capabilities
- Real-time voice interaction (STT to LLM to TTS)
- Vision-based presence detection (face/presence, basic gaze)
- Simple user memory (name, preferences, recent context)
- Coordinated robot behaviour (speech + head/gaze + basic gestures)
- Safe, controlled conversational responses
Key Components
- Speech pipeline: STT, TTS, wake/activation, noise handling
- LLM integration: prompts, guardrails, context management
- Vision: face/presence detection, attention cues
- Orchestration layer: manages multi-modal inputs and robot actions
- Reachy control: head/gaze, optional arm gestures

- 3+ years of experience in AI
- Proven experience deploying AI solutions into production
- Hands-on experience with IoT systems and technologies.
Tech Stack (Prototype)
- Languages: Python (primary), C++ (as needed)
- Robot Platform: Reachy APIs/SDK
- AI: Cloud LLM + basic local fallback logic
- Vision: OpenCV / MediaPipe (or equivalent)
- Audio: Real-time STT/TTS integration
- Architecture: Modular, designed for future migration to ROS 2 and edge deployment (Jetson Orin)
- Proven experience deploying AI solutions into production
- Hands-on experience with IoT systems and technologies.
